Michael has enjoyed a stellar career and a passion for the arts. From creating Melbourne’s most fashionable discotheques in the late 60’s to managing the successful Australian recording artists including Doug Parkinson in focus, Billy Thorpe and the Aztecs, AC/DC, Noiseworks and signing INXS to his record label Deluxe. All the subjects of his best selling autobiography Dog Eat Dog.

He’s recently turned his attention to his long standing love of collecting and dealing antiques and vintage furnishings and created Rust.

RUST, once a cherished establishment in Avalon Beach began its journey in 2008. Nestled in a previously unused area behind the Avalon Beach cinema on Sydney’s northern beaches, RUST quickly became renowned for its eclectic mix of offerings. Specialising in well-curated vintage furniture and French architectural treasures, the store also featured an array of homewares, gifts, art, and fashion. This unique combination made RUST a beloved destination for those seeking distinctive and stylish items.

History is now repeating itself with RUST reopening in the rear of yet another cinema, this time at Cinema Paradiso in the picturesque and vibrant Ettalong Beach. Visitors can access via the Galleria, Schnapper Road, directly across from Coast Cafe and adjacent to Safran Restaurant.

RUST promises to continue its tradition of offering a unique selection of vintage furniture, French architectural treasures, homewares, gifts, art, and fashion.

I recently returned from California to live in Ettalong Beach, after a 23 year successful garden design business, being fortunate to work with some of Hollywoods movie stars – among them being, Courteney Cox and Jennifer Anniston,  Ryan Gosling, Diane Keaton and Laura Dern, and our own Olivia Newton-John.

So now I find myself in a nook at RUST, making tiled and unusual pots with succulents in them. Also selling vintage and new products for the garden.
